A space for the beauty of life and music
"A concert hall is something wonderful. In it we can share the beauty of life with others and with the artists. It is a space where we can create a real community, through our experiences, too." Tateo Nakajima from New York, Acoustic Designer for the NFM.
Venue: National Forum of Music
The National Forum for Music (Narodowe Forum Muzyki, NFM) in Wrocław, is the largest concert hall in Poland and was opened in 2015 to mark the start of the European Capital of Culture celebrations in Wrocław 2016. The number of concerts and other events has been increased 50-fold compared to the old philharmonic hall. 2000 events are organised every year. The music spectrum ranges from classical to pop and techno. New ensembles and festivals have meanwhile been created, and an extensive educational programme is offered for every age group.
There are four halls, a large hall that can accommodate 1800 visitors and three smaller chamber music halls. Krzyżowa-Music has already performed in the Red Chamber Music Hall in 2016 with three quintets: by Brahms, Mozart and Shostakovich. All musicians were particularly enthusiastic about the excellent acoustics. This year a concert by Krzyżowa-Music will once more take place here on 27 August.
The building, erected on the Freedom Square, was designed by the architects Kuryłowicz & Associates. Situated barely 400 metres from the Music Forum, the District of Four Denominations begins – another special feature of Wrocław – where Jews, Catholics, Protestants and Greek Orthodox live peacefully together and organise joint projects in the spirit of ecumenism, meeting and exchanging ideas.
