Three very personal memories
Alfred Brendel passed away on 17 June 2025. With the utmost seriousness, subtle humour and an ideal blend of intellect and emotion, he shaped the way generations have come to understand the music of Schubert, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and others. As a pianist, he set interpretative standards that have influenced generations of musicians and listeners alike.
Following the end of his unparalleled concert career, Alfred Brendel remained closely connected with the arts as a writer, essayist, and tireless communicator of musical thought. With admirable generosity and dedication, he shared his immense wealth of experience with young musicians, becoming a valued mentor and artistic guide for many of them. This is also the case for Krzyżowa Music. Three very personal memories of Alfred Brendel.
